Michaela Davis-Meehan – Rojo Outerwear

Michaela Davis-Meehan

Where are you from? Newcastle, Australia

When did you start snowboarding? I started skiing around the age of 3 and switched to the dark side around 8 years old.

Why did you start snowboarding? Everyone wants to be as cool as their older siblings! I copied my brother Pat after he did the switch. And obviously because it looked awesome!

What do you love about it? There’s some things about snowboarding that you just can’t explain until you have tried it for yourself - floating on powder, the feeling of landing a trick for the first time, shredding with friends... snowboarding is a lifestyle and besides the actual riding I love everything that comes with It! The amazing people you meet, the places it takes you and feeling like the only person in the world after a hike to the top of the mountain is so surreal.

What tunes can we find on your riding playlist? It always changes depending on my mood and time of day. I love some chill beats, reggae, rap, good beats and no lyrics are a favourite. Black Betty – Spider Bait is always my go to for some fast epic pow runs!

Fave riding buddy? My partner in crime Amber Arazny

Three things you can't live without? Powder days. Beach. Chocolate Milk.

Describe yourself in three words: Pretty Damn Awesome!

Quote to live by I’m all about winging it so - “No plans are the best plans” and “Go with the flow”

Pro tip for choosing the right outerwear? Secret Pockets! I will have a jacket for weeks and then discover another pocket hiding in there! Also outerwear that is loose fitting and a jacket that covers the top of my pants, no one likes snow down the butt!

Favourite places? Japan for the powder and pretty much anywhere in Europe for its amazing mountains! Nendaz, Switzerland and Livigno, Italy are at the top of my list!

Favourite rider? Travis Rice! That man knows how to ride a snowboard! I would love to follow him on a backcountry trip down some steep and deep pow lines!

Accomplishments? Making a comeback after breaking my back snowboarding was a great accomplishment for me! Filming in Iran, 4th in the World in the FWQ Tour with a few podiums - won the first ever Freeride comp in Japan. Making the AUS Olympic Shadow team for Slope and way back to my very first big win as the World Rookie Champ (Slopestyle)!

Favourite trick? I love my back 360 tail grabs!! But also a big fat steezy backside 180! It doesn’t even need a grab, they look good and feel even better!

Goals: Current goal - To make the World Freeride Tour and find some big pow lines to shred! Long term goals - Live the snow bum life as long as I can, keep meeting amazing people, travel and explore new places on and off snow.

I also enjoy: riding my motorbike, beach days and surfing, travelling as much as possible and being in the outdoors for all kinds of adventures!
